In a roundabout way :)

Many of you know about the Usagi computer game from 1989. Well a mate of mine is writing an article about it for the next issue of Retro Gamer magazine here in the UK. Needless to say you can't talk about the game without talking about the comic.

So a small part of the article will focus on Stan's work, this site and Dark Horse, and give the URL for both. Hopefully some Usagi artwork will also be featured in the layout (it's not up to us writers sadly to choose what gets used). My mate knows a few people at Dark Horse so permission has already been cleared. I have a feeling they might go with the image of Usagi taking on people with the seafood from issue 49 or so

Thanks, Mayhem. Anything we can do to promote UY is always a welcome thing!

:( I can't find an issue for sale here in the USA :(

It sure does sound like an interesting article from the brief description on their forum .....

Official Feedback for Issue 29
Darran@Retro Gamer wrote: The Making of… Samurai Warrior
Discover how a samurai rabbit made the courageous leap from the pages of a cult comic book to his very own 8-bit computer game
Anybody have a spare issue they would care to sell?

Abayo

PS
Mayhem, Can you provide any more of a description of the article? (i.e. length of article in pages, description and number of illustrations, etc.)

Issue 29 isn't even in the shops here yet, it's only just gone out to subscribers. It should hit the US in a month or so I'd imagine.

Todd will be sent a copy of the issue by myself in due course, so maybe there'll be some scans here (as long as Imagine don't mind!). It's four pages long and uses four pieces of Stan's work (including the big double spread of Chizu escaping after being branded a traitor... that was issue 47 or so?) alongside the text.

Thanks for the information, Mayhem.

By chance, did you post a message to the Retro Gamers forum concerning the article?

Oh not yet, though I didn't quite need to as I'd already been in contact with my mate who wrote it before he had submitted the piece to Imagine. The article does mention this website in one of the boxouts btw :)

Does that mean Craig G. is your friend and the author of the article?

Yep :)

He was asking me if I had a scan of some original artwork I had for a separate article on a game, and then told me he was doing one on Usagi without knowing how much of a fan of the comics I was heh. So of course I asked if he was using any of Stan's work, if he had permission and whether he was going to mention this site (answers being yes, yes and yes).
