Last night I finally picked up the issue of Solo that was all Sergio's work.
I loved it so far. I havent finished reading it yet, but I thought his story about Marty Feldman was my favourite so far and the other stories so far have been really good as well.

I just kept having this scene in my head play out of Sergio running up to Stan and looking all nervous. "Stan, I just killed Marty Felman!" I bet at the time it wasn't that funny for Sergio though.

I've been looking for it, but, as with most comics I want, I can't find it anywhere.

Sergio has led such an interesting life. His real life stories are so much more entertaining than the stuff he makes up--and even that is hilarious.

I hope you read his Gorilla Suit adventure in that Two Morrows anthology Street Smart (he won an Eisner for it), or the time he met Richard Nixon in Dark Horse's Autobiographix. There was also the time he met the Dalai Lama printed in DH Presents or somewhere.

I wish he would do an autobiography in comic form. It could include the time he bombed his film partner with live penguins in the Falklands, or the time he tried to chase away a raccoon but was chased instead, or about the time he went to the restroom with the King of Sweden and when he emerged the entire assembly applauded, or the time..

Well, I should leave some stories for him to tell. You can see why, next to Sharon, he is my favorite traveling companion.

I didn't realise Sergio had been around so much.
If he ever released an autobiography in comic form, I would pick it up in a heartbeat!

Yes, Sergio has traveled quite a bit, though he has cut back in recent years. He is one of only two of my friends that have been to Antarctica. He is an outgoing person, and has been a guest of many festivals and comic conventions throughout the world.

The late Bill Gaines, former publisher of Mad magazine had a tradition of taking his staff and freelancers (if they met a minimum page requirement) to somewhere in the world every year. They went all over, from Japan to Kenya to Italy to the USSR, and parts in between. Can you imagine a holiday with the entire Mad gang?

Mark Evanier always made fun of Sergio's command of the English language in the Groo comics. The truth is that Sergio speaks very good English, as well as a few other languages. However, at least someone believed Mark. When Sergio was invited to a signing, the store hired a translator (a university student, I think). Knowing the guy needed the money, Sergio spoke Spanish throughout the entire weekend.

Wow, I would love to have coffee with Sergio and even hear a few stories from the man himself.
