Just Introducing my self
Hello
My name is Jacob but you may call me Jeikobu. I was just rescently introduced to Usagi about 3 years ago and have read about five of the graphic novels. I know not very much at all but I enjoy them so very much that when I found this site, well, I just thought I had to join. I may not know as much about the charcter as many of you, but I can truly respect Stan Sakai and his work. I am a practioner of Kenjutsu, the art of the Samurai Sword. I have also fallen in love with Japanese culture. So for me Usagi reflects many things that I enjoy. That and is is a very good read. Well I just wanted to introduce myself, I hope to talk to you all soon. Thank you.

Welcome to the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo Jeikobu San (aka Jacob)
I'm sure you will get up to speed with the rest of us as you read and enjoy new volumes in the saga of Miyamoto Usagi.
I envy you all the great stories you have available to read, while I have to wait for each new issue to be published to experience previously unread stories.
Which books have you read so far?
Abayo......

If you wait long enough then reading them again makes them seem new, with that added feeling of nostalgia.Steve Hubbell wrote:I envy you all the great stories you have available to read, while I have to wait for each new issue to be published to experience previously unread stories.
but I bet you've read them all like 20 times more than I have.

Welcome!!
Welcome to the Dojo Jeikobu-san! I'm sure that you will enjoy coming back time and time again. I know that I always do. I also fell in love with Japanese culture because of Usagi. I have a set of samurai swords gracing my mantle and over 30 samurai movies on DVD. I also enjoy drawing Usagi "fan art" in my spare time. So...WELCOME!!! Abayo!

Thank you all for your kind words. A question though? Do you think I should start collecting the Usagi comics and just keep reading the graphic novels. I have read so far, and not in this order, Grass Cutter one and two, Travels with Jotaro, Fathers and Sons, and the one that takes place right after grasscutter 2, Im still reading it so dont give anything away. I really think that Usagi is the comic that combines all my favorite hobbies in to one, Swordsmanship, Art, Samurai culture, and story telling. It really is wonderful. But You guys already know that, thats why I joined, to find people who understand me. See I myself and studing the way the the Samurai. I know that it is impossiable for me to be a Samurai, but I will strive to come as close as possiable in my life. So for me Swordsmanship and Bushido arnt just hobbies, there callings. And I think you guys would understand that. Domo.

and noble callings they are!
I, however, lack the discipline necessary to pursue such a way of life.
I prefer a kind of zen thing... live in the present, that whole deal.
The reason I personally am so interested in japanese culture and such, is kinda the same as the reason I like Theoretical physics. It's interesting, but I'll never fully understand it. Physics mainly because I'm bad at math, and Bushido because I lack discipline.
Also, if you ever have a chance, read up on discordianism. It's philosophical, yet not serious at all. Not to mention hilarious

Comics v.s. graphic novels...
As for me...I collect both. I like seeing Usagi comic size first and then get the trade paperbacks.
