Question for Stan and everybodyelse

Post by Jeikobu San »

I have just started viewing Samurai Movies via Blockbuster online. I have seen The Samurai Trilogy, The Seven Samurai, The Hidden Fortress, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, and Harakiri. I have seen some things in there that I can tell inspired Usagi Stories, Are there anymore out there which inspired Stans stories?

Check out the 6 Lone Wolf and Cub films (along with the manga) to see the inspiration for Lone Goat and Kid, and check out any of the 26 films in the Zatoichi series to see the inspiration for Zato Ino in Usagi Yojimbo. Watch out for those samurai films though, they can become addictive.

Make sure you check out Kill! (one of the films in the Rebel Samurai box set from Criterion, also sold singularly). It is based on the same story as Sanjuro, but is a completely differant movie, and very good as well.

Yeah...you bet that they can become addictive! I have around 30 of them so far! Some other goodies are ; Sword of Doom, Sword of the Beast, Goyokin, Samurai Fiction, Samurai Assassin and Samurai Rebellion. And these are just the tip of the iceberg! Good luck once you are hooked! :D
