Cool, thanks for the links, i've been wanting to watch this episode for a while. Theres also the episodes were the ninga turtles and Usagi join in a tournament with other different aliens all over the universe.
By the way, do you know if they have the episode with Usagi in the old Ninga Turtles cartoon?

Hello UY fans,
I'm at home sick right now, so I'm just catching up on some UY dojo message board reading.
I enjoyed seeing this video (especially since I don't have cable and have never seen TMNT show before). However, here's the standard question about Youtube: Does posting copywritted material help or hurt the artist / business?
Youtube has changed culture (To send out video of Michael Richards' repeated use of the N-word at the comedy club or UCLA Campus Police Tasering of a student almost immediately to millions is an amazing. It's a powerful tool for communication that didn't exist a year ago). It's also cool, although there is a lot of crap out there, that anyone can produce and distribute movies because of youtube.
But is this exposure of UY TMNT for free good for UY or TMNTs? Will more people see it now and go out and buy some products? Or will the freeloaders (I include myself in this category is far as video goes. Although I do buy UY comics and products as they come out.) just watch for free?
What do you all think?
A side note: I read in businessweek that google offered the major networks $100,000,000 as "licensing fees" for there stuff on Youtube. Basically, don't sue us. I'll doubt they will take it because that means they accept that youtube is the future of media distribution (and how are they going to make money on that?).
Peace,
maka

It depends, if you only watch Youtube every now and then, it can be benifitial to increasing the shows popularity on T.V. Though, if you watch too much of your programs on Youtube rather than paying money to watch these shows, then this could put T.V obsolete and workers who make these programs and channels out of business. So eventually, we got to draw the line some where. Also, I'm suprised Youtube isn't illigal. Hard to believe that some one started this million dollar phenomina working in a garage.Maka wrote:Hello UY fans,

Uh....I seemed to have cracked open a hornet's nest here.Maka wrote:But is this exposure of UY TMNT for free good for UY or TMNTs? Will more people see it now and go out and buy some products? I didn't mean to imply that there was something wrong with your thread. I was just curious on people's opinions of benefits/cost of youtube (as far as business goes).Ben wrote:Uh....I seemed to have cracked open a hornet's nest here.Could this thread possibly be locked down if it's that much of an issue?
Google paid over $1.4 billion dollars for Youtube because they think there is money to be made (either in advertising or some other way). I believe the Youtube phenomena will continue until the big time media companies collectively sue (like Napster) Google and win.
But big media companies aren't suing yet because they recognize that Youtube gives their shows (and therefore, potentially their advertisers) a broader reach than TV with the age demographic their advertisers want. I think they trying want to figure out a way to make money with youtube or if they can go it alone without youtube. Technology moves so quickly now days - think about this: Youtube was about a year old company and the owners sell it for $1.4 billion dollars. That's amazing. But next year, there may be some other company that does it better.
I think it so fascinating (I'm a nerd, I admit it). Of course some people are calling this internet bubble 2.0.
One possibility for profit is: I watch TMNT on youtube and I fall in love with the show. Because Youtube isn't the best quality, I decide the pony up and buy the DVD collection (better quality and DVD extras). Fox wins (and everyone gets their royalties).
But how often does that happen and does it happen enough for Fox News Corp, Time-Warner, Disney, etc. to make up for lost $ in advertisements? I don't think it's even close. So what is going to happen?
Peace,
maka

One thing I noticed was that a lot of the TV networks are now offering viewers to watch their shows for free on the internet at their websites. I see YouTube and the internet itself as a way for the big media companies to garner a larger audience as well. I can't see how it could hurt the creators. Advertisers will still pay so long as the shows are first run on regular TV.
Can someone download and send me a copy of this episode?? Thanks!

BTW - Todd, if you're using Firefox, just search for a proper add-on on its site: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ - some of them apparently allow to save the videos from Youtube on your computer as a flash file.
