I don't know what this is for. I'm thinking this is someone's personal project.

Neither do I know what it is exactly for, but - I guess it's because of the glossy rendering - the result... looks a bit like an inflatable dummy.
Don't draw hasty conclusions, Cosmo, don't draw hasty conclusions.
Perhaps we'll see very soon a samurai rabbit on SecondLife.

Well, I'm sure I've seen that figure before.....

Roel, is it another spin-off of your Usagi maquettes???
If not, it might be the winner of our #100 contest, idling with his statue...
(For what purpose? Beats me...)

No it's not mine. I'm doing my own which will be totally different. I just haven't had the time to do it.
When I do finish mine I will gather some friends to help me animate a scene from Usagi which I hope will be pretty cool.

Wow, I guess the old saying about news traveling fast is true.
Just wanted to make a quick post, so that no confusions hurt what we are doing or cause any unwanted trouble.
A good friend and colleague of mine are starting an entertainment company from the ground up, iiwia bros. We intend on doing low budget animations and games to build our portfolio. So we were faced with the issue of where do we start. We have a bunch of ideas and interests, but one that we shared in common and a great deal, was Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo.
We understand that in no way, are we to release anything made using Usagi Yojimbo or other Stan Sakai work, and well anyone else's work for that matter. Our intensions are to make something that Mr. Sakai would like and possibly take serious.
We were really hoping we would have some form of finished project before anyone had found it. I purposely haven't done any marketing on the blog for those reasons. But when I checked the traffic this morning I was really surprised to see that UsagiYojimbo.com was a big source of traffic. When we have something that would be presentable, we will definitely send word to Mr. Sakai, and hope for the best.
Critiques are welcome, hope you enjoy our development blog.

Hi Joey,
It looks promising, however I should notify you that Usagi is already optioned for animation.
Don't anybody get your hopes up for a TV series or feature. Usagi (like almost everything out there) has been optioned a number of times. There is quite a leap from an option to a finished product.

Thanks for the response. Bummer that you've been optioned already. Well we have been making the models with game production in mind also. If nothing else, it would make a good demo/portfolio piece.

Posted a Hikiji Samurai, wasn't really certain about the color scheme so I stuck with darker earth tones. How far off on the colors was I?

Nice work ! The aspect now reminds more of a classic cartoon animation. A little bit like cel-shading. I'm eager to see those characters in context.
