Looks great;
But won't the armour just fall off, when he becomes "HULK" ?
So why don it anyway ??

I wonder....

It's the same reason his pants don't rip off when he becomes the Hulk.

This is actually a con sketch that was commissioned at the last SD con. I've redesigned him to be even "Hulkier".

I can't wait for Stan's Hulk story to get published.

Hulk is one of my top 5 favourites and Stan is my number 1 favourite creator. Its a no brainer if Im picking this up or not!

Stan Sakai wrote:I've been asked to contribute an 8-page story for Marvel's yet untitled "independent creators" mini-series. The idea is to let indie creators have a hand in doing a story with Marvel characters. Each comic will have a 8 or 10 page lead-in by an established creator, then 4 page stories by some up-and-comers.

I was thinking of a Samurai Hulk story. I like the visual of an armor-clad Hulk rampaging through a likewise clad army. I just have to think of a story to go around that visual.
I was hoping to ask a couple questions to add to the information which has already been given concerning the upcoming story.

Is there any information on a possible release date yet?

Is it still going to be an eight page story like originally described?

From your first description, it sounds like you are both writing and drawing the story. Is that correct?

Because it is a Marvel comic, can we assume it will be in color? And if so, who will be doing that job?

Will you be providing the cover art for the comic as well?

Any new thoughts on the project now that you have come this far on it?

I'm being interview about the project tomorrow. I'll let you know when it has been posted.

Yes, I am doing an 8-page lead story--writing, lettering, and drawing. Tom Luth will be doing the coloring. The story and series has not yet been put on the schedule, so I do not know when it will be published.

I have been asked to do a cover, but I do not know if it will be for this particular issue. I've always liked Spider-Man, so may do one with him and Doc Ock.

what other "indies" will be drawing stories like this? Sergio Aragones or Jeff Smith, perhaps?

I'm intrigued as to how the concept of a "Samurai Hulk" will pan out, especially when exhibiting emotion was considered a sign of weakness among warriors. Superheroes don't get much more 'emotional' than the Hulkster.

I'm thinking of having the Hulk story revolve around the tea ceremony and flower arranging.

The working title is "Marvel Underground". Sergio and Jeff are not involved. The only others I know who are doing stories are Paul Pope and Paul Chadwick.
