El japonés Sakai triunfa en el salón del cómic de Gijón
En la gala de clausura fueron homenajeados Olmo y Maurice Horn.

Bienvenidos a la ceremonia de clausura de este salón del cine". Con este lapsus comenzó su intervención Joaquín Fernández, encargado de presentar, junto a Sofía Carlota Rodríguez, la gala que cerraba el XXXI Salón Internacional del Cómic del Principado. Una gala en la que resultó vencedor absoluto el autor japonés Stán Sakai, quien se llevó el Haxtur a la mejor historia larga por Duelo en Kitanoji . El premio lo compartió ex aequo con Yoshiharu Imaizumi y Jiro Taniguchi, autores de Seton: lobo, el rey . Cuando salió a recoger el premio, Sakai mostró su alma oriental: "Estoy muy honrado. Gracias. Me he quedado sin palabras"
A continuación apareció el concejal de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Gijón, Justo Vilabrille, para entregar el premio John Buscema: amar el cómic al guionista y dibujante Maurice Horn. Del premiado, Vilabrille resaltó que "es una referencia internacional en el mundo de la historieta, además de haber organizado dos grandes exposiciones en Paris y Nueva York". Horn agradeció el premio a sus colaboradores "y a esta preciosa ciudad".
Luego llegaron los premios Haxtur: el del público fue para Carlos Giménez, por Barrio 4 , quien se llevó también el premio a la mejor historia corta, por Ese día / Barrio 4 ; el galardón a la mejor editorial fue para Planeta deAgostini; El correspondiente al mejor guión fue para Jean Charles Kraehn por Gil St. André ; El Haxtur al mejor dibujante lo obtuvo José Luis García López, por La mujer hipótesis ; el Haxtur al humor se lo llevó Maitena, por Todas las Mujeres Alteradas ; y el dedicado a premiar la mejor portada cayó en Clásicos DC Orion n[TEX El director del Salón, Faustino Rodríguez Arbesú apareció para presentar el Haxtur al autor que amamos , que este año ha querido reconocer la trayectoria del dibujante bilbaíno Luis Olmo, creador de Don Celes . Arbesú destacó del autor que "con su ingenuidad y simpatía nos ha hecho sonreir toda la vida y por eso lo amamos". La alcaldesa de Gijón, Paz Fernández Felgueroso, fue la encargada de entregar el Haxtur a un emocionado Olmo, que a a duras penas acertó a decir que "la estatuilla es preciosa, pero lo que he recibido estos días en Gijón es el cariño que se le tiene a Don Celes. Ese es, para mí, el auténtico premio".
