Usagi Yojimbo DojoBoard

I had never read Usagi Yojimbo. I was waiting in a library with my kids. I saw Usagi TPB Volume 17. I had heard these were really good but never bought one. I sat there and read that book but did not get to finish it. It was great. I have ordered it and checked into ordering others.

It was simple but so exciting and fulfilling. I have about had it with the "Big 2".

I've been a big supporter of libraries for quite awhile, and they have been a big supporter of mine. I received an American Library Association Award for UY Book 12: Grasscutter, and also 4 Young Adult Library Service Awards (YALSAs).

Most TPBs should not be hard to find... start at volume 1 or 2 and carry on my man!

It's not important where you've had your first contact with Usagi, it's more important to get a steady supply of the TPB....

Once you've started the first book, you'll want more of them, I'm sure.
But no doubt you'll find lots of support here if you've got trouble finding any books; I agree with Mayhem that it would be best to read the trades in chronological order, but when you think of buying them anyway, I'd dare say, buy what you can get: they are in and out of print from time to time, so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to own them all someday...

I dunno, I read UY out of order. My library didn't have all the TPBs when I started reading them, so I began with vol. 14. It took me a little while to get the names straight, and figure out who was who, but it wasn't too hard.

Awhile ago, I was at UCSD's library, and for the hell of it I searched the system for Usagi and low and behold, they have every Usagi trade paperback. Very cool. Apparently UCLA, UCD, and Cal all have them as a part of the whole "acceptance of graphic novels as legitimate sources of reading" thing.
