Promised I would post pics so...

I found this in Milwaukie, OR at the Dark Horse shop (I think it was called Thing's From Another World). I assume 1PC means 1/300 (Print Copy) but the handwriting looks a bit different. Can I get verification that this is really a number 1?!

Thanks!

That is #1 Publisher's (I think) Copy.

I sign the tip-ins and do the drawings, but I do not write in the numbers. This is because a few of the tip-ins get damaged and, frankly, it's easier to add the numbers after the books are bound--it's easier to keep track of which books go to the distributor, to the publisher, to the various comp recipients, and to me.

I did the numbering for the Fantagraphics HCs, but those were cards that were pasted in after binding. The DH tip-ins are bound into the books.

I think I get it. So this is a Publisher's Copy #1 out of the regular distribution?

By the way, I was wondering do you use a particular type of pen for Usagi?

I go to the drug store and buy a package of Precise V5 roller ball pens, but I imagine there are better and refillable pens that can be had at an artist's store. However, I never know what to look for.

Your lines are so clean in your drawings. I usually am go back over until I have a thick line for outlines in my drawings. Which looks off or sloppy to me.

The Publisher's Copies and Artists Proofs are not counted as part of the regular numbered editions. I'm not sure what the comp recipients get--probably PCs. So, there is a #1 in the regular edition, a #1 PC, and a #1 AP.

I use a Rotring Sketch Pen extra fine point for the signature and drawing. I fill it with Badger Black Opaque ink, which is permanent and waterproof.

I think the best part about finding this book was the picture of Jotaro holding the HUGE hammer embossed on the cover.
