Kitsune Appearances

Hi all, long time reader of Usagi (still have Critters no. 1), first time poster to this forum, and I really only have one main question:

Can someone please tell me which of the collected books feature Kitsune, the lovely entertainer/thief? She is far and away my favorite character in the entire series, and buying the books that have stories featuring her is my main UY priority.

Any help will be vastly appreciated.

Okay, one more question: has any reason ever been given for where Kitsune learned how to use a sword? I thought that katanas were limited to the samurai class by law at the time in Japanese history.

Thank you.

Noodles, which is a two part Kitsune story, can be found in The Brink of Life and Death. That book also has a very good story with Inazuma and Usagi.

Hello and welcome to the Dojo;

Kitsune's very first appearance can be found in Book 7: Gen's story.
In fact, in there are two stories, called "Kitsune" and "The Return of Kitsune"

The next book would be Book 10: The Brink of Life and Death, as stated above, the two-part story "Noodles".

Then she takes a long break, but we even see her on the cover of Book 16: The Shrouded Moon, where her story is told. At the end of that book she tells Gen how she was taken on as a trickster-apprentice. I guess it was then that Kitsune learned how to use a sword (though not nessesarily a katana; wakisashi or tanto would be more to it, I think).

We see her again in Book 18: Travels with Jotaro, where her new (and talented) apprentice is presented.

Next would be her appearance in Book 20: Glimpses of Death, where she's got a close encounter with Inspector Ishida (one of my favorite characters) in "After the Rat".

Her next and to date last story will be collected in Book 22: Tomoe's Story, for that story was told in post Mother of Mountain issue 92.

Hoping to be of service...

Abayo

P.S.:Come to think of it, we haven't seen her in a while; she should be resurfacing pretty soon, I think...

Thanks to both of you for the responses. The second one in particular is going to be very helpful.

No problem, I'm glad to be of service;

With that little list, your main priority should not be too difficult, so you can track down the other books as well afterwards; they are all really good, even if they lack Kitsune :wink: :lol:

Welcome :)

I think Thomas has pretty much summed everything up there. About the only point left to add is that she does check this place out occasionally ;)

I love it!

If I may know, just where did you get that pic from Mister Sakai? I'm guessing that it was at a con of some sort.

A commissioned piece for San Diego Comicon 2006. Yeah, even though I'm in the UK I made it out there. Hopefully this year as well, and maybe another commission...
