General Murakami: Dead or Alive?

Does anyone else think this is a possibility? I've learned to never believe any character in UY dead unless we see the signature skull balloon drifting up from their head. After all, we never actually saw General Murakami killed, and Gen simply could have leapt to conclusions when he recognized his father's swords.
