This is a piece of animation that I did myself. It is the only animated sequence that I had ever done.

I did it at the Tezuka Museum in Takarazuka, Japan in 1998. Sharon and I were guests of Osamu Tezuka Productions. The museum has three levels. The ground floor has a gift shop and displays of his more well-known work, as well as personal items such as his sketchbook from the third grade. The upper floor has his more experimental work, and animated films. The basement is an animation studio where guests can created their own short sequence. There are character designs and step-by-step instructions on how animation works. I was there with Lynn Johnston (For Better or Worse) and Erik Larson (Savage Dragon).

I don't know where Steve dug it up.

Sweet

The individual images that make up the animation were posted somewhere (I don't remember where) shortly after the Tezuka Museum visit. Someone combined those images into an animated GIF and they were placed in the animation downloads section of this site. (In this version you can see the Tezuka logo.)

I found the logo-less version in my signature on some Spanish or Polish blog that had a write-up about Usagi, I forget exactly where.

I put that series of images together using GIF Animator shorty after Stan sent them to me years ago. It's been in the Downloads section of the Dojo ever since.

That's kind of big to have in a signature. Really cool though.

Well, one could decrease the size of each picture and make a gif-animation out of those smaller versions, but there is a limit to this: part of the art will not be recognizable if it is too small (The fly's fearful expression, for example).

I like it. It's a pretty smooth piece of animation for just being five frames.

I tried uploading it to be used as a 100 X 100 pixal avatar, and the size was reduced automatically. Unfortunately, a lot of detail is lost in the size reduction, even though the animation still works fine.

In order for the animation to be shrunk without significant loss of detail, you'll need to shrink each image individually and re-create the animation.

COOL animation!!!

That Is one COOL bit of animation dude!! I like the slicing the fly in half. Only Usagi could do that! Abayo! :D
