It's not that rare, especially if you have local comic shops that deal in independent titles. The first volume of Usagi (Fantagraph) is far harder to find.

There were more than twice as many copies of UY vol 1 #1 published. I still sell a stack of them at San Diego for $5 each.

Really??

I had a heck of a time tracking down the old Fantagraph issues, myself, whereas I saw Critters issues everywhere I looked. Maybe it's the fact that people hold on to the Usagi issues more and don't understand the intrinsic value of the old Critters issues.

Well I apologize for giving bad info

Its always been easier for me to find Vol.1 instead of critters lol well that explains it :D
So which issues would be the hardest to come by ?

The first Usagi trade paperback I ever bought was Dragon Bellow Conspiracy. That was mainly because, for the longest time, I could not find one of the Fantagraphics issues between #14 and #18 which formed part of that multi-issue story line.*

I could not even begin to remember now which issue that was, the one I could not find. I did eventually find a copy of it and eventually gave the trade paperback to a friend.

*I was also under the mistaken belief that the book had the Return to Adachigahara water-color story in it, not realizing back then that it was only in the hardcover edition

When I was filling out my back issues ages ago (pre coming to the Dojo) I can't say I had much trouble finding most issues. Although the Mirage ones don't turn up all that often truth be said.

The Mirage ones were pretty easy for me , except the Space Usagi ones ,
I got all the Mirage ones in one shot and he even had extras lol

In my experience, the higher up the vol. 1 issue, the harder it was to find. I didn't have much trouble locating the first ten or so issues, but they kept getting more difficult to locate after that.

I don't know if the OP was after a Critters #1... I know I have a few spare issues, but sadly not #1, as I went to check.
