Dark Horse 25 variant

2011 marks Dark Horse's 25th anniversary. In commemoration, the company will be publishing variant covers for their ongoing books. Usagi's variant will be for UY #136 (March issue). Basically, it will be new covers with the number "25" dominating the art.
These covers will be printed in a ratio of 10:1, in other words, for every 10 copies of the regular covers there will be 1 variant. This means, of course, that we will have to run a few contests with these covers as prizes.
The art will probably be reprinted as b/w in the next UY Sketchbook.

that also means we will have to buy more issues to get both covers, right?
could be kind of a race here on the dojo, who is going to be number one getting a variant cover;)....

look... I never said this plan wasn't without it's flaws ;)
I was focussing entirely on more new Usagi art!! (ahem)

Awww...Ok Dark Horse, I'll at least give you guys credit for only doing variants for something important.
And at least these will sell, unlike the multiple special month marvel junk and the various DC ones clogging our shelves. I know the Usagi one will be coming home with me!

Wanted to bump this as a reminder for everyone. If this is still going to be with this issue that means it'll be coming up for Final Order Cut off soon for comic shops. Let your regular shop know if you want it so they can bump their orders. See if you can make a deal with them to buy the extra books and get the special cover for cost or something like that
I'm going to try to buy the extra books and use them as give-aways in my store to try to get a few more people hooked on Usagi.

My local comic shop doesn't order 10 copies of Usagi Yojimbo, unfortunately. He ordered more than 10 to get the variant for me, but I have to buy the copies that don't sell. NO PROBLEM! (he gives them to me at cost). I'm just going to give them away to people in hopes that people start to pick it up.
Best comic shop out there!

I got my copy last night and the 25 year variant. Unfortunately my LCS had to order enough to get 1 variant. Nice thing is he charged me cover price for the variant. Unfortunate part is I will have to but 8 extra copies of the normal cover. Which is fine because Ill give it to other customers for free in hopes they start picking up the greatest comic on the shelves.
