Comic-con will be selling 4-day and 1-day passes starting November 1, starting at noon Eastern Time (9 AM Pacific Time). Prices are a little higher again with four-days going for $105 and single-days for $37.

The event takes place July 21-24 2011, Thursday through Sunday.

Remember, last year 4-day passes sold out in a month and single-day passes sold out just into the new year. I believe Preview Night is already sold out.

Well, not only did SDCC registration die again on Nov. 8th, but also Nov. 22nd as well! No word on whether or not it'll up again this year...

In sharp contrast, my Wonder Con 2011 registration on December 1st went through with no problems, and I've already grabbed a low airfare from Seattle to San Francisco for those dates ($49+ each way?!?)... Now I just need to get the con hotel locked in, and I'm all set!

They tried-- and now it sounds like they'll be going with the "plan" of using a ticket seller and a registration company "in tandem"-- and it's only gonna cost an extra three dollars or so.

Frankly-- this whole bit of news puts me off of wanting to register. Maybe I'll change my mind later, but I don't know.

According to the local San Diego newspaper, the 1000 test memberships sold out in 15 minutes, though Twitter was alive with unhappy people complaining of glitches and time-outs...

Just wait until the hotel stampede in two months...

I think going to visit Sensei's exhibit at the National Japanese-American Museum in Los Angeles during Anime Expo 2011 sounds like a much more saner alternative (and no "Hungry like the Wolf" karaoke too!)

I basically decided not to even attempt getting a pass during this test as I imagined it would still be a complete clusterf***... evidently I was pretty correct on that front then.

Although according to the SDCC page in question, those who did order a pass got the $3 fee refunded as credit, so they weren't out in that respect.

Will keep my eyes open for whatever comes next... at this rate, don't expect me back in 2011 sadly... Kris has already decided she isn't going.

For regular Attendees I really recommend buying your registration at the con itself for the following year. It's easy, there is usually no line, and you always get the lowest price. I think you can even cancel and get a refund if you can't go.

As for hotels...grumble grumble...for the 2011 con I may end up having to join the stampede in February. My usual connection at the Westgate isn't panning out this year (greed can be a powerful adversary!), so I am stuck at the Holiday Inn, which is a little too far away compared to what I am used to. At least I am saving a lot, but would be willing to pay more to get closer. I'm working on the Hilton Bayfront (my dream hotel) but it's a long shot.

According to Stan they are requiring a deposit up front this year so that *may* help, but who knows. I've never booked thru the con before so this should be fun...

There was a deposit this year, one night's worth when the booking was confirmed once you'd been allocated a hotel to stay in (and what a complete random bunch of whatever that was!). Given Kris isn't going, if I do manage to venture out, then I'd either need a sharing companion, or somewhere further out (but by the tram line) that's cheaper...
