I just read the new issue of Toyfare, and on page 91, under the TMNT section, Usagi Yojimbo is listed for September. I suppose that must be him in the picture. Does Stan have any info on this?

they look like the style that all the tmnt have been done in so far. That means these must be for the new tmnt line!!!!

In time to slide in a comment before anyone who actually
knows something speaks

THe style, and the fact that Usagi is packin' heat, suggest to me a
Space Usagi tie-in.

I figured it was space usagi, but what i meant by style is look at the way teh figures are composed. Basic articulation and detail. The legs on gen sorta give it away as well, and the artist Michael Dooney is heavily involved with the TMNT so this all points me to these prototypes being the new figures from the playmates toy line.

These are actually old sculpts for an aborted Space Usagi project. Turner Entertainment, Mirage Studios, Fred Wolf Films, and myself had developed a SU tv series with merchandise tie-ins about ten years ago. It went pretty far--we were even offered a time slot on tv. However, circumstances forced us to cancel the project. Mike Dooney who contributed to much of the TMNT toys did the figures.
The new Usagi figure in the TMNT line will appear either late 2004 or early 2005. He will be dressed in his regular costume, with hip-swinging action.
Would have made a great TV series!

Too bad that they didnt go through with it. I and a few very lucky others actually saw the short pilot that Stan owns and it's better than most dreck on Cartoon network today.
One word...Rugrats....*Shiver*

Of course, if the whole thing wasn't horribly mangled by various network execs, it probably would have been cancelled after a painfully small number of episodes (Invader Zim, for example

, or Firefly).
Down on TV? A bit, yeah....
