Color art

Post by Stan Sakai »

I've been posting some watercolor Usagi art on my FaceBook. Since some of you do not subscribe to FB, you can see them on my Live Journal page.

This is the art for a French print for a store I will be doing a signing later this month:

And this is the program book cover art for next month's Katsucon in Washington DC:

I will try to get copies of both the print and program book for a contest or giveaway.

Very nice Stan! I always like seeing Usagi in color! Both are awesome, but I really like the Katsucon cover! :D

I think you have to be present to bid on the cherry blossom original. If you are there, you could get it at a very good price as most attendees neither know or care who I am.

When Frank Miller and I were guests at an anime con, we were pretty much left alone. The big draws were the voice actors. It was great, because it gave me a chance to really get to know Frank. We went for sushi together.

Ughh! Wish I could attend, but too far away. :(

Since Stan mentioned the Katsucon art as being the "program book cover art", will any dojo members be attending Katsucon? If anyone attending can grab some extras for fellow dojo members, I'm sure it would be appreicated by some of us here...

Whoever gets the cherry blossom print is going to be very lucky :)

When you say "French print" Stan, you mean something purchasable? Will you be able to acquire some for those not able to attend?

I am going to France in a couple of weeks. Besides the Angouleme Comics Festival, I will be doing signings at a few stores. One of them asked if I could also send art for an exhibition and a new piece to be sold as a print. That is the Usagi in field art I recently finished. I will certainly get a few of these, though I don't know how many.

Stan Sakai coming to France in January!

Submitted by Lorin on Tues, 20/12/2011 - 17:47

January 2012 will be busy for fans of comics, including - we hope - for our readers!

In addition to the long-awaited release of the novelty of Yann Romain Hugault and the driver to Edelweiss, we benefit from the Angoulême Festival to invite authors we do not see often requires removal. Thus all fans of Usagi Yojimbo get to meet Stan Sakai at a small French tour:

he will be signing on January 23 in Pau at Bachi Bouzouk
(Bachi-Bouzouk - 11 Rue Latapie, 64000 Pau, France)

and in Toulouse on the 24th at the Album
(Album - 7 Rue Romiguières, 31000 Toulouse, France)

and on the 25th at the BD Fugue café.
(bd fugue café - 10 Rue de la Merci, 33000 Bordeaux, France)

Then, for those who are in Angoulême, you can meet him at the Editions Paquet booth.

This is another gift from Editions Paquet for the beginning of the 2012 year!

I always like seeing spot pop up. To do so in color will be very exciting. I must learn more about this katsucon print, as I'll be there in February (on my birthday no less!)

The small print was for a store signing and exhibition at a BD (French comics) store in Pau, France. I do have copies which I will be giving away at conventions and signings to Dojo members who ask for them, beginning at KatsuCon.

I did a watercolor drawing for KatsuCon which will be used for their program book cover.

I did a bunch of watercolor drawings at Angouleme. So many of the artists were signing albums with watercolors, that I bought a color set. I even sold a few, which was not my intention, but they really wanted them.

Defintely some type of commision, been waiting 14yrs . As long as I've been a fan, I'm still kicking myself in the head from 1998 when I met you and never bought any of that original art you had for sale :x
