San Diego Comic Fest

Post by Stan Sakai »

Registration for the San Diego Comic Fest is now open. This is an old time comic con, put on by many of the founding members of the SD Comic-con. Emphasis is on comics. No gaming, no movies, no Hollywood displays. Attendance is limited to 1,000.

I will be there.

I wanted to go to this a lot. I had it on my radar when you mentioned it on these boards a while ago. Unfortunately, the dates conflicts with a prior commitment. Hopefully next year. Have a great time! Peace, maka

San Diego Comic Fest

Post by Stan Sakai »

Is anyone on the Boards going to be attending the San Diego Comic Fest next weekend (Oct 19-21)? Happy Giant sent me a bunch of lanyards and stickers to give away. I'll save some for San Diego, but I would like an idea of how many to bring to Comic Fest.

No problem, Steve.

Because of the clip at the end, these lanyards cannot be mailed in a regular envelope.

Had planned on all three days as well as staying over, but looks like I don't get to go-- unless Sunday is still open to sales. Besides, that's the only day I see Stan on any panels, so if I can make it one day, Sunday it is!

I hope this does well-- and I am going to do my best (despite GAS PRICES) to get down there on Sunday!

Make sure you identify yourself as a Dojo member, and get a free UY lanyard.

I was at the Comic Fest this weekend; attending all three days. Was definately a more slower, laid back atmosphere. The dealer room was probably the size of Room 6A at the Comic-Con. Saw Stan & Sharon, and of course attended Stan's panel on Sunday. My wife & I even stayed late on Saturday to see Scott Shaw!'s Oddball Comics presentation. He had two panels: a more PG-rated one during the day and the usual profane "adult" one at 11pm Saturday night.

Sunday a local news station was there. I even saw the "General Lee" Dodge Charger in the parking lot next to the Comic Fest. Not sure if there was a tie-in.

Don't know how may attended...maybe 200-300 per day...it didn't feel crowded at all. Hopefully they got enough to do it next year.
