Usagi "Reading" Print

Post by maichan »

Did anything ever become of this?

I know on Facebook Stan mentioned it might be used as a poster or print for Free Comics Book day.
My local Comic shop was keeping an eye out for it, but nothing showed up or was offered (at least that they were aware of).

This is my piece for the Association of American Publishers' Get Caught Reading campaign.
The entire campaign is images of authors or characters reading. Of course, I wanted to draw Usagi and his association with the samurai and Japanese culture. I considered things like Mt Fuji or a castle, but wanted to keep it simple. The swords, maple leaves, and stone lantern worked well.

Here is the site that has it. You can even order free posters (with a $5 shipping/handling charge). However, you may need to be a teacher or librarian to order it.

There is even a Bone poster.

I wonder how far the definition is that they'd allow someone to order heh. I know a college lecturer who'd be very interested in the Stephen Fry poster, and if she was allowed to order, then I could get her to order the Usagi print for me, and then send it on. But that's something for consideration. Do we have any teachers/librarians here on the Dojo? :)

If they will ship to an academic library, I will try to order 12 copies (their limit) of the Usagi poster. We have mounted AAP posters in our library in the past, so this should work. Watch this space for availability!

I know Cynlee is a teacher. She has not been on the forums for awhile, but she is active on FaceBook.

Has anyone heard back on requests for copies of these posters yet?

I mailed in a request for ten of them along with a check for the required shipping on May 13th and have not heard anything back from them BUT the check has been cashed so I am presuming that they accepted my order.

Hopefully, now I just have to be patient and wait for them to arrive.... :D

Cheryl also sent in a request for the Usagi posters last week. I haven't heard anything yet. I have a feeling they will just send it to the school. Peace, maka

I also ordered some that I was going to get signed at HeroesCon to give away here.

The posters were expected to be in from the printer this week. We'll probably get ours next week.

Remember to give one to your local comic shop to put up in their store. 8)

I was not able to order any, but my local comic book shop was going to ask a few regular customers (who are teachers or librarians) to try and order some, however I have not heard any news from them yet.

Unfortunately, I won't make it to Heroes Con this year. Hopefully, in 2016.
