Usagi Saga 1 and Coloring Book and Forum update
Hi Everyone,
Saga 1
I've been receiving lots of e-mails lately about Usagi Saga 1, so I thought it would be most efficient to answer via an announcement. Currently, we do not have any Saga 1 Hardcover AP's available. If that changes and we find some Saga 1's that are available, we will make an announcement to everyone at the same time. I can't sell them in good conscience based off of e-mail inquiries, as I've received so many and if I turn one person down, but sell to another, it isn't fair.
I'm sorry about this, I wish there was another print run scheduled for the Saga one hardcover. After I organize the infrastructure with the Usagi merchandising, I'm going to take a look to see if DH would be willing to reprint. It's a longshot but we'll see.
Coloring Book:
This is getting close! We already have a collection of pics ready to be printed. In addition, I MAY consider printing these perfect bound, which would be incredibly nice! I found a nice Deadpool coloring book with that format and thought it was cool. Depends on how expensive it will be, however. But keep your fingers crossed because it'll be really nice!
Usagi Dojo Forum:
I have gained login credentials for the backend, so that should be coming together as soon as I can find a moment to do it, or I find someone who can, now. Shouldn't be hard. I'm also interviewing someone for a PA position, which should move projects along much quicker. I hate waiting, but there's only a limited amount of things one person can do, sadly.
Sorry if I'm latent with replying back, I've been quite flooded recently. I have more than 10 projects just for Usagi, in my brain right now. But, they will be awesome when done!
Thanks for understanding, and please look forward to a surge in Usagi activity in the next couple of months!
Daniel

Thanks for all your hard work behind the scenes, Daniel! I know you have a bunch of cool things coming up, so I guess I better start saving my money so I can afford all of them!

Re: Usagi Saga 1 and Coloring Book and Forum update
The upcoming Usagi coloring book got me thinking about digital coloring. I've watched a few YouTube videos that my friend does while making art, so I've seen him color a few pieces digitally. I took a few tricks I learned from watching him, watched a tutorial on how to separate line art for coloring and one on creating flats, and then applied these things to my limited Photoshop knowledge to see if I could color a picture digitally. Of course, if I'm going to color, I might as well do something Usagi related.
So I took a scan of a commission I picked up last year and played around with it. I probably spent close to 5 hours on it and, as my first real digital coloring attempt, I ended up pretty happy with it. It's not great, but I thought I'd share for fun.

I can't wait to get the Usagi coloring book!

Very cool! And very well done.
Do you have a link for these tutorial videos? I'd like to learn more about digital coloring.

That looks great! I don't know anything about digital coloring, but it does look interesting.jabba359 wrote:The upcoming Usagi coloring book got me thinking about digital coloring. Not to go too far off-topic, but I don't think this has come up in discussion yet in the Dojo, did you know there is a digital COLORING BOOK: USAGI YOJIMBO #117 on the Dark Horse Usagai Yojimbo Zone - http://www.darkhorse.com/Features/Games ... ojimbo-117

These first two videos are ones that I found randomly on Youtube:Eltanin wrote:Very cool! And very well done.

Separating line art from the background - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0STJnKYwyQ
Basic flatting "how to" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4Qg6Svszy0
The things I learned from my friend Rob (aka StetchCraft) are more about how to use layers, layer masks, and shading and highlighting tricks. I didn't learn it from any one particular video of his, but just from observing and asking questions from his live streams, though he does have "how to" videos as well - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC37A3_ ... h6x3W8hbLQ

Great job Jabba. I really like the color choices for Usagi's armor. It reminds me of Sauber's Team colors from last year.

Thanks. I have to admit, I used the color scheme from the Senso hardcover.Spam Musubi #7 wrote:Great job Jabba. I really like the color choices for Usagi's armor. It reminds me of Sauber's Team colors from last year.
