No TMNT/UY HC variant

Post by Stan Sakai »

We recently learned that IDW neglected to order our Sakai Variant for the TMNT/Usagi crossover.

However, we are expecting the Playmate Toys action figure variant this month.

Does that mean the book won't be produced at all, or is just delayed?

Unless there is a second printing of the regular hardcover, this variant will not be printed at all.

That's too bad. :(

Hopefully you still have some Signature softcovers available. I miscounted or lost one at SDCC, so didn't end up with one for myself.

Signature softcovers
When/where was this mentioned? Do you mean a tpb or the comic that was released with all the different covers?

Stan, do you plan on selling any of the regular hardcovers on your site with a limited number of remarques?

The Sakai Signature softcover has the same content as what came in all the softcover versions, so it doesn't have the covers gallery or additional supplemental material of the regular hardcover.

Where can these be purchased? I don't see them on his site.

I've been checking the site frequently as well, waiting for it to become available.

Dang, that's a major bummer, but thanks for updating us, Stan.

I got my regular hardcover copy in the mail the other day. I'm happy to have it, though it's not the same without that sweet Stan signature.

I'll be on the lookout for the softcover and Playmate variants.

Happy with my softcover, got it a week ago and thinking of trying one of the slabkits on it. BUT the mention of a variant playmate Usagi figures is still bugging me! I cant find any mention of it outside Stan's post, let alone images. Anyone have any info?

From another thread:

Was it due in August, or later?

Also, what are the chances that Playmates learned from the SDCC debacle and will produce these in higher numbers?

They should be available in October.

Playmates has nothing to do with the number of these exclusives produced as I ordered them specifically for me. The number produced will be just slightly lower than the SDCC exclusives. There were 500 SDCC Exclusives, 350 of which were sold at Comic-con. The rest were given to some employees, used for promotions and I received some. The Sakai Signature Exclusives will have a signed and numbered edition, a remarqued edition, and a few Artist Proofs. The Sakai Exclusive will have a different color scheme and different accessories. It will come in a display box with a panel, similar to the SDCC variant though smaller.

We will make sure that Dojo members will not miss out on this.
