Stan did a cover for STORYTELLER
Just discovered this little fact yesterday when I picked up my copy of Jim Henson's the Storyteller: Fairies
(I honestly can't recall if I knew about this or not, or if it has been posted here before - so I'm sharing just in case it hasn't.)
The new issue is written and drawn by Matt Smith (Barbarian Lord & Lake of Fire). When I got my Matt Smith cover, I noticed there was an alternate cover on the shelf (by Sas Milledge), and then when I looked inside for the credits, I noticed there was Stan's name for yet another cover. My local comic book shop is going to try and order a copy.
Upon further investigation, it appears Stan's art may also be on the cover of the hardcover scheduled for August 2018, by Simon & Schuster.

I did not know this was out. I was asked to keep mum about it for some reason. I will post a step-by-step look at the creation of the cover probably Friday.
I did not hear about the hardcover. They could have used my art just as a placeholder for solicitation but may use a different piece of art for the actual cover.

Re: Stan did a cover for STORYTELLER
Thanks Stan!
Yeah, there is a possibility of the cover changing, but I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for the book one way or another. Of course it'll be even nicer if your art is on the cover.

Looking forward to the step-by-step.

Re: Stan did a cover for STORYTELLER
Thanks for the heads up. I'll check my local comic store to see if they have a copy in stock. It's been a long work week, so I still haven't gotten down there anyway to get the new issue of Dept. H (okay, that one is from last week) and the Hellboy Krampusnacht one shot.

Re: Stan did a cover for STORYTELLER
Well, my regular comic shop didn't have the Sakai cover and I see the only one for sale on eBay is $40.

Re: Stan did a cover for STORYTELLER
Thanks for the heads up. I had checked several online comic sellers and couldn't find it. I just got it ordered and it looks like I may have gotten the last one, as it's now showing as out of stock. I also picked up a few Usagi back issues with covers that I've always really liked as well as the new issue of Sherlock Frankenstein since my local shop sold out already.Steve Hubbell wrote:I ordered a copy from http://www.mycomicshop.com for cover price plus postage.......

I am waiting to see if my LCBS saved me a copy. I doubt it since I didn't pre-order it or ask them to put it in my pull. But we'll see. I'll email them now.jabba359 wrote:Thanks for the heads up. Have you been reading Sherlock Frankenstein or are you waiting to get the complete mini-series first? I love it. The humor is great. The art is so cartoony and fun. And you get the backstories on new (to us) Black Hammer villains that are tragic but all so entertaining.
Peace, maka

Re: Stan did a cover for STORYTELLER
Early on, my local shop sold out of a couple issues of Black Hammer back to back (I think it was issues 3 and 4), so I gave up on the individuals and have been getting the trades instead. I generally buy trades instead of single issues anyway (except for Usagi, Dept. H, and random one-shots or covers I really like). Since the second trade just came out, I'll read that first and then the Sherlock Frankenstein mini-series.Maka wrote:Have you been reading Sherlock Frankenstein or are you waiting to get the complete mini-series first?
