The case of the missing Moustache

So, I've been re-reading Usagi Yojimbo stories and am going through book one of the Saga series, and I noticed what appears to be a mistake. I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, but I could not find any discussion about it yet.

The story is KAISO,

Usagi visits a village that farms seaweed (Kaiso).
Yamanaka-san the Kaiso Broker has a moustache that is very... unique.
However he is missing his moustache in one panel...

Has Stan ever commented on this? I wonder if he ever thought of correcting this 'blooper'?
