Baltimore Comic-Con
Wonderful trip to Baltimore to see Stan again, first time since 2013 when he was the featured artist for their convention yearbook. And I got to meet Julie Sakai for the first time. As always, a table full of original art, posters, pins, stickers, sketchbooks, and more. Stan is ever gracious when asked for an autograph or signing a book, I'm afraid I abused the privilege, I got several hardcover books signed, (Senso, the 2013 yearbooks, and the TMNT collected editions). I picked up a commissioned sketch of one of my favorite characters, Inazuma. I didn't hog the line, Stan was always busy, so I kept coming back at intervals . . .
The 2019 convention yearbook was a tribute to Blacksad by Canales and Guarnido, and featured a painting done by both Stan and Julie. I'll try to post some of these images tomorrow!

Let's see if this works. Commissioned artwork, Inazuma in a thunder storm. I LOVE how Stan depicts characters in the rain!

Yes... Let's see if I can help...
NOPE, can't seem to get the image to appear here. The closest I can get is the URL:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/185143904 ... 941737903/
Any hints on posting images from flickr ?
Go to the picture, look to the right lower portion of the screen, there should be a star, a curved arrow, and a download arrow. Click the curved arrow. A pop-up should open with some options:
Share 1 photo to:
Share ... Embed ... Email ... BBCode.
Make sure the BBCode is selected. Choose the size you wish to display, and copy the code. Then paste that code here.
Flickr adds some text to the end of an image which usually will wrap around in the text box, so I usually put a break after the image portion of the url and the text url (look for where the [/img][/url] ends and title [url...title] begins - put a line break between them. it's not required, but keeps the text from running off to the right.).
The result is seen below. I used the URL for a small image 274x400

Thanks Maichan, that worked like a charm! You've opened the floodgates now, I think I might have to start a "gallery" page with the Usagi sketches and commissions I have collected over the past 10 years . . .

Another sketch / autograph from Baltimore Comic-Con, I brought along all of the TMNT collected hardcover editions. Stan has a great solution for sketching over the green endpapers in these books -- go large!

Another image from Baltimore, this is the Blacksad tribute by Stan and Julie, in the annual convention yearbook for 2019, with both their signatures.

That is a neat image. I really like the references in it.Shadowfax wrote:Another image from Baltimore, this is the Blacksad tribute by Stan and Julie, in the annual convention yearbook for 2019, with both their signatures.

When does the yearbook usually go on sale online?
