2005 Usagi calendar

Post by Stan Sakai »

Yes, there will be a 2005 Usagi Yojimbo calendar from Tide Mark. We have just started discussions on it.

2004's calendar was a big improvement over the 2003 calendar--thanks in large part from feedback from the Dojo. I want to make 2005 even better. Any suggestions?

Tide Mark will have a booth in the 800 block at Comic Con International: San Diego.

calander

Post by Steve Hubbell »

Kon nichi wa,
Since I have not seen the new calander (2004) yet, I can't possibly think of any way to improve it... except the most obvious of ideas being all original art instead of reprinting previously published art? Maybe do a Usagi through the seasons theme or Usagi's women theme (are there enough women in Usagi's life yet to use for a calander?) to a batch of new drawings? Can't wait for my 2004 calander to arrive, I ordered it from Diamond's Preview catalog through a local comic shop. Speaking of calanders, today is the start of a new month and I got the pleasure of displaying a new page of my 2003 Usagi Yojimbo calander. Any idea when Diamond Dist. are supposed to ship the 2004 calanders to comic shops?
abayo,
Steve

You read my mind. An UY calendar made entirely of original art would rock!

What about adding milestone dates like Albedo #2 First Published or UY's appearance on the TMNT cartoon show?? That would add a uniqueness that I don't believe appears in other calendars. Heck you can even have the date the UYD first went online!!!

How acurately can a specific date be stated for when an episode of a cartoon aired or an issue of a comic was released? The air date for the cartoon might be found, but where would someone look for release dates for comics from small independent b/w publishers just starting out back in the early eighties? On whatt date did the dojo start up? It had been around for a bit when I first ran across it...

Thanks for the great suggestions. However, remember that this is mainly aimed at the general public, so knowing when Albedo #2 was published would mean very little to them.

There will probably be one new image, as in the 2004 calendar. To do a new piece of art for every month would be too time consuming and would seriously cut back on the time spent working on the UY comics.
