I don't know much about Pittsburgh, except it's the home of the Steelers and there a neat Natural History Museum. Daughter Hannah and I are planning to see the Beauty and the Beast stage musical while we're there.
See you Saturday.
If you've never been to Pittsburgh before and are driving, I strongly recommend getting careful directions from someone that knows the area intimately. It's the most stressful, confusing driving I've ever done in my life, and I've been there quite a few times.

Is it even worse than Boston? I remember driving around in circles the first time I was there.
Fortunately, we're flying in, and probably catching a cab from the airport.

Pittsburgh and Boston are comprable in my book. I'm originally from New York and would rather drive there any day Glad to hear you won't have to navigate for yourself.
I'm in Pittsburgh now. I met Shaxper and wife, and Luger yesterday (Saturday). Hannah and I also saw a wonderful production of Beauty and the Beast on Friday night.
We're flying back to LA this evening with Scott Shaw! and family. Great convention, terrific time.

Thanks for such a wonderful experience, Stan! It was such a pleasure to meet you. My wife couldn't stop saying "He was so nice!" the entire way home. I really appreciated your taking the time to talk with us for so long, as well as to sign the myraid of comics I brought to you! I was so nervous about meeting you the entire time and, after a few minutes, felt like I was talking to an old friend.
And the commissioned piece...it's just perfect. Thank you thank you thank you, Sensai!
Keira and I had a blast and look forward to coming to see you many times in the future!
If you don't mind could you give us a look at the commissioned piece? This fan would love to see it.
Peace, maka
Sure thing. Stan turned it into the cover of the new third Usagi sketchbook, so you can actually own a copy of it if you like it enough
Incidentally, I've never owned a piece of original art before. Does anyone know what kind of frames are original art safe, as well as where to get such frames? I know the normal kinds won't protect against UV and such.

i just don't expose my art or old books directly to the sun, frames could be expansive, and sometimes more than the art you put inside...

You can get it professionally framed, which can get expensive, or do it yourself. Either way, use acid-free matte boards as backing and mattes, or protect the art against the acid most boards contain. The acids will eventually attack the art paper and yellow it. Even if you use UV glass, do not hang the piece in direct sunlight.
It was such a pleasure to meet you and Keira. Thank you for driving down to see me. I hope you had a good time at the convention. It can get a little strange at times to see so many people in fur suits walking around.

Thank you for sharing. It is beautiful. Congrats and thanks for supporting Mr. Sakai and UY.
I asked a colleague who does the local art walk show on Sundays. She recommended a local frame store in town and I got them both a custom frame and matted. The person also gave me a list of different glass options (I didn't go for the museum glass - way too expensive), along with the size, color, and design of the frame & matte. It was expensive (around $80 for the comic page size) but if you can afford it, I would spend the money. After all, it is an one-of-a-kind UY item.
Regardless, enjoy it and thanks again for sharing it with us.

We couldn't have had a better time, and the pleasure was all ours!

I was thinking it and Keira was thinking it, but we didn't say anything because we weren't sure that you were thinking it Upon entering the convention center, we passed two disgruntled looking teenagers puffing on ciggarettes and wearing heavy metal shirts and blue furry ears. It was then that we realized this was going to be a weird event...

Thanks for the advice! I agree that you can never spend "too much" in preserving and displaying such a fine piece. I couldn't be more thrilled.
