I never got around to reading Civil War directly (just lots of synopses online), but I have been reading "Mighty Avengers" by Mark Bagley and Brian Michael Bendis.

From what I've seen in that, Iron Man definitely does not seem villainous. A little too right-wing political, maybe, but he cares too much about putting an end to crime to be labeled a villain.

Exactly. This whole "IM is a villain" concept is just silly and is using the term too broadly.
