Comic Con
Sensei,
I lived in San Diego from 1977-93 and a collector for many of those years. Since then I have moved to north Texas. I was not in my Japan phase until 1989 and had quit going to comic con or collecting. No time with karate and two sometimes three jobs. I had heard about Usagi late a few years ago from a karate friend and was interested, but did not have access to books.
The con was more for my wife to reminisce I found out Sensei Stan would be there that would be TODAY I was elated. And I have been registered since October. This is going to make my day as well as recent news that Tite Kubo the creator of Bleach will be there.
I really would enjoy anything personalized and I am too new to request anything. Usagi is my favorite and I do have the screen shots on my computer. Since my comic days I only collect softcover or hard cover collections. Hope you will have some of those to purchase. I am afraid to say I only have Grasscutter.

I returned from Pittsburgh late last night to the news that the Kansas City Barbecue across from the Hyatt in San Diego burned down on Thursday. It was a great place to eat:

I wish I could have attended the con! Would have loved to pick up a original Usagi artwork of some kind.
Mr Sakai visited Sweden in april I think at a small comic fair. I heard about it just 2 days before the fair was, and I was working that weekend and I couldnt take time off that close to it!! The worst part is that I work just 3 minutes away from the fair...but it closed the same hour as I got off work...
I really really hope you will come back to Stockholm again Mr Sakai!
Regards,
David in Sweden

Hello Mr. Sakai, if it is not too late, I'd love to buy some hardcovers from you in San Diego this year. I'm just starting to collect them, so whatever early ones you have are of interest to me. I think I would like to get three or so, but I may buy more, particular if there is a run of consecutive volumes available. Were you serious about possibly having some Albedo #2's available? I'd certainly be interested in that as well. Would it be possible to get some more details? Anyway, I look forward to seeing you again. You gave me an awesome sketch at SDCC in 2005 (which remains in my sketchbook, as it should), and your warm response to me and your other fans was one of the high points of that trip (my first).
Thanks!
John
Thanks!

I will have copies of most of the HCs. I have run out of most of the earlier ones.JohnnyRnR wrote:Hello Mr. Sakai, if it is not too late, I'd love to buy some hardcovers from you in San Diego this year. A couple of people have already ordered Albedo #2, so they will have the right of first refusal. I am reluctant to bring any more than that, because I am running out of them myself. They will be much less than the $2000 price tag a dealer had them for a couple of years ago.

I'll bring both for you.Mayhem wrote:In addition to the h/c Seasons (#11) I had asked about, do you have either of the two "Art of Usagi" issues by Radio Comix Sensei? I still need those for sure...
With everything Dojo members in Europe ordered, you will have a lot to bring back with you. Thank you for doing this.

To the many of you who asked me to bring something to the con: I will reserve your commissions or books for you until noon Saturday, then they will be put up for general sale.
Specifically about the art commissions: for the most part, you do not have to buy it if you do not like it. It may not be what you had in mind, you may have spent all your money at another booth, etc. It is understandable, and I won't take it personally. I want everyone to be happy with what they get at my booth.
We will need dollar bills, especially later on in the con. If a book costs $16, as many of them do, you might give us $21 instead of a 20. We'll give you a $5 bill as change. This will help us conserve our $1 bills.
