The royal family of Japan has announced the engagement of Princess Sayako (35) to Yoshiki Kuroda (39), a Tokyo metropolitan government official.
Sayako is the only daughter of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko. The wedding is planned for next summer.
After the marriage, Princess Sayako becomes a commoner.
