Eisner Awards

Post by Stan Sakai »

I knew about this last week, but was asked to keep it quiet until the nominations list was officially released.

Usagi is up for an award as Best Continuing Series. Also in the category are: All Star Superman; Fables; Naoki; and Thor.

Groo: Hell on Earth is nominated as Best Limited Series.

Dark Horse has the most nominations this year.

Here is the entire list on Heidi's blog:

It sure would be great if both Usagi Yojimbo and Groo: Hell on Earth won the award for their respective catagories! :D

I don't think All Star Superman should be in that list. It isnt a continuing series.

I hope Usagi wins.

AS Supes was okay. The art did nothing for me.

Thor is good, so is Fables.

But Usagi crushes both those title with ease.

Usagi FTW! 8)

You don't like Frank Quitely's art? I think his emotions and expressions on characters faces is masterful.

Usagi is against some STIFF competition. I hope it wins, but wow - all of those are incredible books.

Wow. With Usagi up against no match comics like that, if it loses, I will curse the judges to an eternity of rabbit-involving nightmares.

Does anyone know the answers to these questions:

1) What time is the Eisner Awards and how long does it run?
2) I assume one has to wait in line to make sure they get a seat. How early should one line up for a space?
3) Is it worth waiting in line to watch it?

Thanks!

Peace, maka

Woohoo!!!! It's about darn time!

I know it's officially the Year of the Ox, but perhaps, with the 25th anniversary in mind, it will turn out to be the Year of the Rabbit!!!

OH MY GOD! Stan your up against Naoki Urasaw's Monster and Grant Morison. I hope Usagi beats All Star Superman. But, now I am torn, cause Monster is a great comic. Though it should not be in Best Ongoing because it was only 18 volumes long.

Have you met Urasawa-san prior to the awards, Mr. Sakai. He seems like a very neat guy from what I have read. Though what is funny is Urasawa and you are the only two, in that category who actually write AND draw your own comics.

I do hope Akira Toryama wins for best Kids comic. His stuff outside of Dragon Ball Z is very good.
