Yes you read right...the Lord of Owls makes his long-awaited return to the pages of Usagi! Is a Jei-meets-Oyama Tadanori story arc far behind???

The Lord of Owls has only appeared in one story, apply titled "The Lord of Owls" which was published in Usagi Yojimbo Volume #3, issue #11 (Dark Horse Comics, March 1997)

I am not sure why this information is not currently listed on the page linked to where the story is described.

I've been waiting for this story for a long while, now! Stan was still piecing it together at Motor City, and it was incredibly fun watching the gears turn. I can't wait to see what he came up with!

Yes, and you were a great help. I am still undecided exactly where I am going with this character. This new appearance will probably raise more questions than it answers.

But it will be fun to see him again.

You have no idea how much that means to me, Stan. I honestly thought you were just politely nodding your head while I was rambling :)

And more questions is always fun. I think it's a big part of what's kept Jei as fascinating a character as he is.

Yes. Yes. Oh God, yes. Thank you, sensei.

I've always felt the strategy for unveiling a mysterious character like the Lord of Owls is to offer fans a breadcrumb with each appearance - just enough to prevent the reader from becoming frustrated, but leave him/her craving for more in the same breath.

For example, we were allowed a small tidbit of Sasuke the Demon-Queller's origin in YOKAI, but we still haven't glimpsed the whole picture. I wouldn't be surprised if Sakai-san takes a similar approach with Oyama Tadanori.

Recently, I've been seeing an owl hanging out on top of a tree close to where I live when I go for my evening walk. Funny coincidence, huh? (I'd take a picture, but it's always too dark to get a decent one whenever I see it.)
