TMNT 100 PROJECT Launches With New Covers, Gallery Opening
by Newsarama Staff (18 May 2016)

Image

Hero Initiative has announced a gallery opening to showcase the works of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 100 Project, a collection of 100 variant covers for IDW Publishing's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #50 by top artists.

The gallery opening will take place June 3, to coincide with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows in theaters. TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman will be live-sketching covers, and all the pieces will go on sale on eBay to benefit the Hero Initiative on June 14.

IDW has released six covers that will be included in the TMNT 100 Project, which hits shelves this fall. The covers seen here are by Stan Sakai, Dan Brereton, Karl Moline, Shawn McManus, Nate Van Dyke, and Dale Keown.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Mayhem may end up with this one... :D

I'll be happy just winning one of them for my collection really. There's a few in there I might well have a pop at bidding on.

If you want to see a fuller gallery, Rich's TMNT blog has a good selection so far: http://tmnt-ninjaturtles.com/tmnt-50-co ... e-gallery/

okay.... so please excuse me for my ignorance regarding this as I try to understand how it's going to work out.....

The original covers will be auctioned off beginning June 14th. I'm pretty sure I understand that part...

But this is what I want to confirm: There will be 6 covers published in the fall, and one of those covers will be Stan's piece?

The book coming out this fall will be a book collecting reproductions of all the covers which were created and auctioned off.

Thanks Steve.
Okay, I'm sort-of familiar with the books, as I have the Hellboy book.
But I'm still confused by this:
IDW has released six covers that will be included in the TMNT 100 Project, which hits shelves this fall. The covers seen here are by Stan Sakai, Dan Brereton, Karl Moline, Shawn McManus, Nate Van Dyke, and Dale Keown.
I read it as there will be 6 variant covers published for issue 50. Or am I misreading it (misunderstanding it)?

EDIT - now I'm more confused. Issue 50 came out last year.
Sorry, I'm brain dead this week.

These six covers weren't actually released out to retail channels as books to sell, but are just a small sample shown in a press release of what will be part of the 100 Project book and auction. Perhaps "IDW has revealed six covers..." would have been a better way to phrase it, so as to not cause confusion.

That makes sense then.
Well, at least I can get the book when it comes out. :D

All the covers (hopefully including all the ones that Kevin sold at the gallery opening, AND the ones sketched on the night itself) will be in the book released later this year. They were just revealing six of the covers that will be included in the book (and you can win, starting from the 14th). Hopefully we might get to see in advance which covers will be sold in which batches...

This is my favorite of all the covers I've seen.
