PMs getting stuck in Outbox folder

Post by Silent Phantom »

Hi All,

I tried sending a PM a few days ago, and it seemed to stay in the Outbox folder for over a day. I just tried to send another PM about an hour and 20 minutes ago, and it's still in the Outbox folder. I assume they should be sent almost instantly, or maybe just a slight duration in the Outbox if there's some server lag?

The messages stay in the outbox folder until the recipient of the message actually opens the message at their end.

Unfortunately, email notifications from the forum do not always make it to members. I don't know if it is a problem with the forum or if it is a problem with various email servers treating the messages as spam.

For quite a few years I had stopped receiving any email notifications from the forum. Sometime within the past six months I have started to get them again, both for private message notifications and for notifications of replies on topics that I have started or made comments on.

Thanks Steve, that makes total sense. I guess I was thinking of it more like how standard e-mail usually works in regards to the outbox feature.
