Help the Hodges

Post by Stan Sakai »

Tim Hodge is an animator, having worked at Disney and was a director of Veggie Tales. His son Matthew was in a car accident involving a train, and is in a coma. Tim's insurance will not cover long-term recovery, so artists and animators organized by Chad Frye and Tony Bancroft through the National Cartoonists Society are putting on a fund raising effort through e-Bay. The auction begins Thursday, January 21. There are over a hundred items, including ultra-rare items such as a drawing of Charlie Brown by Charles Schulz, Wallace and Gromit drawing by Nick Parks, and art by Drew Struzan. The art and collectibles will be auctioned in thirds. I donated the original art for the "Orange" print.

There are some amazing pieces on that list. I'll be going for a couple of them.

It's great to see the animation and comics community rallying like this, but then they always do.

The auction started yesterday and bids skyrocketed!! In the time it took me to click on an auction I was interested it jumped from $0.50 with no bids to almost $200 and 3 bids.

The jam piece that Stan contributed to is almost at a grand right now!

Here is the link for anyone interested

Also it's an original painting, not a print.

Thank you, Sensei. I know the Hodges really appreciate it.

All the Help the Hodges auctions have been taken down by eBay. I don't know why eBay suspended the auctions. The people organizing the benefit were not notified or consulted beforehand. Rest assured that the auctions will begin again once everything is straighten out in a couple of weeks.

The painting is still up, with less than two days to go. It is at a good price--less than half of what it was when all the art was taken down about a month ago.

it's on my watch list, and more importantly I'll have finished work when the auction ends!

truth be told, it's something I probably shouldn't even think of bidding on, as this year's already been hectic and shows no signs of abating, but...

well...

it's a beautiful piece!

Thank you. I don't usual push items on eBay, but the organizers just asked me to encourage bidding. And all the money goes to a good cause.

Matt, who was in the accident and for whom this all is for, still has not come out of his coma.
