I remember seeing the one with The Thing at SDCC 2007, and possibly the 2nd one as well at Sensei's table. Nice pieces as always.

Hehe, sorry Steve, I guess I've had that reaction before on something I hoped to nab for a decent price. I guess many of us keep a close eye on Usagi stuff. I guess my hope is that someone in the Dojo will snag it instead of someone else though if they are that big of an Usagi fan that's cool too. Lol, oh well, hope you get one!

Wow. He way more than doubled, almost tripled, his investment.

The seller also had a print that went for $114.38. I still have a bunch of those that I sell at cons for $15.

Well, good for him. I made my money off the art, so I'm happy. I do get many comments from other pros that I price my art below what I should, and looking through other portfolios I see that many others charge a lot more. However, I'm comfortable charging what I do.

Well, I can say I did try for the "Usagi Thing" piece, but had to sleep through closing of the auction; I possibly couldn't have gone that far bidding anyway....

Did someone here snatch one of those pieces? Just curious.
Greetings from overseas

Not here, I let it slide once it went over $200... partly because I knew what the original commission cost would have been. If I want to spend that sort of money on something recent, I'd much rather give it directly to Stan ;)

Amazed over the final price for the print though... I wonder if he was "cashing in" on the slightly increased recognisation of the art from the recent charity auction...?

Dear Readers,
Only 2 people bid on the print.
Egos limited only by the depth of their cash flows?
Best wishes to all!

Wasn't me....

I saw the auctions when they first appeared, but been having some cash flow problems currently which kept me from even bothering to place a bid.

Just discovered the "Making work pay" tax credit while finalizing my fed taxes (initially started in January and thrown aside when I "learned" that I had to send in a decent size check for the second year in a row), now I just have to send in an itsy bitsy small check. :D
