These prints were sold way back in 1989 at the SDCC and other conventions by Stan. It is not actually a "sketch" but a limited edition print watercolored by Tom Luth. There were 60 of these made. At the con I believe Stan was charging $35-50 each. While the drawing is a print of the original art, the coloring is original and not a copy. Tom colored 60 of these by hand. The B&W print had a limited edition of around 150 copies or so. I am lucky to own one. Stan also did some of the first page of...was it Blind Swordspig? Back in Critters. I think less of that one were made. One interesting thing is that Stan signed and numbered these in pencil!

I think Stan was charging $100 for the watercolored Dragon Bellow piece, because i remember going "yikes". I bought one of his b&w prints, but the colored version was out of my league.
Still, it's another example of a little inside knowledge going a long way - I feel sorry for whomever paid that much for this piece, but also pleased that they were able to acquire a piece that is obviously important to them.

Actually, I colored these prints myself. They were originally done in late 80'2/early 90's. I came across a bunch of these and a few of another print of Usagi walking (first page from A Quiet Meal, I think) and brought them down to San Diego. I sold the colored Dragon print for $100, and the other for $75. I still have a few Dragons left. They will, no doubt, be at the next SD Con. Tom did color a few original pieces for me, but not limited edition prints. He did, however, color a limited Groo print featuringTodd Shogun wrote:These prints were sold way back in 1989 at the SDCC and other conventions by Stan. Groo and a crowd of main characters.
The prints were signed in pencil, because it is traditional to do so. It something I learned when I took printmaking classes at the University of Hawaii. Some other prints have been signed with ink because the slick paper would not accept the graphite pencil.
