Nice Go!

I love the Noodles story. Even if this is an unused page, having an original Stan Sakai art page is a true collector's item. If he got this 15 years ago, I'm sure he got a good deal. And now someone else will get a chance to own something special. Good luck everyone!

Peace, maka

I was outbid the last time it was posted for sale, and I'm pretty sure I'll be outbid again, but I will make another effort.....

[EDIT] I just checked and I never did bid on this the first time around. It was priced way too high for my poor budget to even make the minimum bid required. And I have already been outbid on it this time around. :D

Well, it's sold... and the price is higher than the original BIN he listed it with the first time around when it didn't sell. Go figure...! If I'd had the spare $1000 to buy it the first time, I would have taken it probably...

I know how you feel Mayhem, I would of grabbed it at $1000 if I had it a few weeks ago, I was going to bid, but man the price got way too high..A few years ago, I scored the Usagi Vs Groo piece and was so tempted to bid on this one as well. Its a gorgeous page! Anyone from here board win it?

I was outbid pretty quickly, so I can't claim to have won it.

I thought the starting bid for the previous auction back in August was $2500? That is what the ebay listing shows now.

It got relisted at $1000 on another BIN more recently. Or the original price was reduced down. It was definitely sitting on BIN of $1000 at some point though.

If I remember correctly, it was originally listed at $3000, then relisted at $2800, then $2000, then $1000. I may be off on the middle two, but I'm almost positive it was originally listed at 3000, and ended up at 1000 before disappearing for a few weeks. Good deal for the seller, and a lovely piece for whoever won :)

I was watching this as well. Awesome page, and a rare find. I'm pretty sure this unused page was published in one of the sketchbooks, but can't remember which one. Anyone help me out? I agree with you all, it just got too expensive for me, but I would have loved to snag it. $1,000 BIN would have been a great bargain. Good for the seller, and great for whoever was lucky enough to win!

The seller actually listed the details below in the auction description.....
This piece was published in The Art Of UsagiYojimbo #1 from Radio Comix in 1997 on page 23 with Stan Sakai’s explanation: “Unused first page to Noodles (Vol. 3 #1). While this page revealed a lot of Usagi’s character as he gave to the homeless man, I later decided to start off the new [Dark Horse] series with more action: i.e., the chase scene.”
