Usagi and TMNT Orignal Sketch for Fighting Cystic Fibrosis

Post by Elveen »

Good day Dojo,

I have listed the AMAZING Usagi and TMNT sketch I got from Mr. Sakai this year at SDCC 2012. It is listed for auction on ebay. The auction will end this Sunday.

Here is the link of the auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180985640162?ss ... 1555.l2649

Here it is!

And the Master and his work.

There is also a VERY cool story with this sketch. Mr. Sakai told me that while he was drawing this he was being interviewed for a TMNT documentary. Very cool.

Just a reminder, ALL of the $$$$ (minus fees) goes to the Great Strides charity.

A few links:

Here is my friend's Great Strides page: http://www.cff.org/Great_Strides/dsp_Do ... User=90565

Here is my little website. I need to update it for this year's sketches. I'll get it done quickly. http://www.fightingcysticfibrosis.com/

Lastly, I need to express how thankful I am for Stan and all the work he has done for me. He has been one of my GREATEST supporters over these years.
Stan thank you so much. I'll see you at the next one.

I was pretty sure I would be outbid eventually on this one, but wow, Three bids placed in the last 5 seconds of the auction!

Always glad to see these pieces for the Cystic Fibrosis fund drive go for decent prices....

Not me, and Elveen was the seller.

With ebay now, you never know who the winner is (or who you are bidding against) since they disguise everyone's names....

Hi there, I was lucky enough to win this piece. I can assure you it has gone to a good home. :D I am looking at it now and loving it so much!

There is also a story here on why I was determined to win this piece... when I was a young boy I was bullied quite a lot, and through Spiderman comics I learned that I had a choice...

I could choose to be bullied and live with it, or I could choose to do something about it. So I decided to study martial arts!

I study Ninjitsu and it was through TMNT that I discovered Usagi! (One passion became two!) :D

Then when this became available to buy, work were sending me to the US so I was actually able to bid as I could take delivery!

It was like the stars aligned so I could buy it! I was VERY lucky!

As a result this piece means so much to me and the fact I could support a charity made it even sweeter!

Also I need to say a big thank you to elveen for being so helpful with the delivery.

Take care all

A friend of mine just showed me this video.

It shows Stan getting interviewed while sketching the Usagi and TMNT sketch from this year.

I'd imagine that it has already been posted but just in case, I wanted to post it. It is a great interview and a chance to see the Master at work.

Thanks for posting the video link here, Elveen. I posted a link to it on the Dojo Facebook page but I forgot to post a link here as well.

There is actually a second video from the convention which was taken at approximately the same time as this one which catches more of the John Landis interchange towards the end of this video. Unfortunately, you can not see the sketch Stan is working on in that one.
