Hello, all!
I have the "Usagi Yojimbo Gallery Edition Volume 2, The Artist and Other Stories" for sale. The book is in pristine condition and has been handled with the utmost reverent care and mostly stored in its original box. The box is only slightly damaged, with a bit of wear on the flaps and a few minor, small puncture wounds that do not penetrate all the way to the book.
A "Used - Acceptable" copy of this book runs for between $2,996.13 and $4399.48. This copy is intact. Accordingly, it is for sale for $3,500 plus shipping and handling. If anyone wants to bid higher than that, feel free. If an offer comes that I can't refuse I will take it. Otherwise, it's up for $3,500 to the first person to post.
Payment will be via PayPal. I am hopeful that this volume will go to a home where it will be appreciated and honored.

Re: Usagi Yojimbo Gallery Edition Volume 2 for sale.
Is there something special about this Hardcover? I bought one in February 2019 for $85.67 including tax and shipping. I know there has been a massive run-up in Usagi prices but I wouldn't have thought either Artist editions would have shot up that much as while they are incredible cool for hardcore Usagi fans they ultimately are just reprints.
Is Volume 2 in particularly special or expensive now? There is a volume 1 on eBay still in the original box asking $300, which seems high to me as last time I checked the Kinokuniya still had volume 1 on the shelf for cover price. (Kinokuniya would be our equivalent of Barnes & Noble). I don't see a volume 2 listed on eBay currently.

Re: Usagi Yojimbo Gallery Edition Volume 2 for sale.
I don't know, but I think a lot is seller speculation. I can understand $200 or $300 but not $2,000 or $3,000. But what do I know. I did a quick search online and only found one listed from Bulk Bookstore for $2,125. I could not find any completed Ebay sales. Two are on Amazon for $2,996 and $4,399. I think most of these are bookstores that put crazy prices on out of print books. They're usually in no rush to sell - wait long enough and someone will bite.

Some of the booksellers on Amazon use an automated pricing program that searches for similar books and sets the price based upon that. You get two of those programs trying to base their prices upon each other and the prices keep getting increased.....

This would explain a lot. I frequently laugh when looking for a book on Amazon that is is out of stock so resellers are asking thousands for it when you can get it in a used book store/eBay for only a few dollars. You can use the bot pricing of resellers on Amazon for indicative prices.Steve Hubbell wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 13:18 -0700 Some of the booksellers on Amazon use an automated pricing program that searches for similar books and sets the price based upon that. Re: Usagi Yojimbo Gallery Edition Volume 2 for sale.
Yikes! I just saw the price on Amazon and saw that it's been so long since anyone has sold it on eBay that there weren't even any recent completed sales! Volume 1 was still available from Amazon at it's original price until just recently, but Volume 2 hasn't been available at that price for about a year.
Ultimately, this means I no longer have an interest in selling it and won't feel as bad looking at it. I just saw the prices and couldn't fathom having a book that expensive on my shelves! I am not a wealthy man!
Thank you for the input and I apologize for seeming like a vulture!
Many thanks! I am thrilled that I can look at it again! (still a bit expensive, though...)

Re: Usagi Yojimbo Gallery Edition Volume 2 for sale.
Also, I should say that the greater part of this volume's value, at least to me, is that it contains full-size, high quality replications at a very high quality of printing of entire comic manuscripts by Mr. Sakai, who I personally hold as the greatest cartoonist ever. This makes it an invaluable resource to me as an artist as it gives me the chance to see how Mr. Sakai made some of his artistic choices. Since I'm long since out of college it's nice to have a little more artistic education of any sort!
Again, I want to apologize for such a high price. I simply didn't know any better. Thank you, all.
