I hope the buyer did not get it just for that cover that was replaced in later editions. That original cover will be back with the next printing, in a few months.
Kim Thompson and the new Fantagraphics art director thought that the first cover relayed the mood of the story much better than the second one, which was originally painted for the hardcover edition.

UY Book 4 Hardcover
In related news...I just won a Hardcover copy of Book 4 on eBay for $94, and I was wondering about the signature plate. Sensei Sakai, did you actually illustrate each plate that you signed and numbered, or is it a lithograph? I'm curious to know all about this new addition to my Usagi collection.

Yes, each one of those full figure drawings is an original, and each one is a different pose--or as different as 1500 drawings can get. Nowadays I draw a head sketch with my signatures--still more than what most signed editions have.
The Book 4 HC edition was sold out even before it left the printer, and I've seen a copy go for as much as almost $200.
