Usagi Yojimbo Sketchbook

Post by quwanjew »

Hell there,

I was wondering if anybody who went to the SD comiccon this year picked up any extra copies of the Usagi Yojimbo sketchbook #2 or if there is anyway to buy one that doesn't involve going through eBay. Also, what where they selling for there?

Bud Plant ordered a bunch of The UY Sketchbook #2, so they will be offering them very soon. They retail for $10, which is what Bud will sell them for.

Yeah for Bud Plant! They always have some really great books.
And they also have some copies of the Art of Usagi hardcover, if anyone is still looking (as well as the Heritage Source site having it).
I got my hands on the art book at San D Con from Bud Plant.
:D
Oh happy day! It is a lovely lovely book!

Yes, it is. More than myself, I wish Cary Grazzini had won the Eisner for the book's design. He did such an outstanding job. He was responsible for the overall look of the book, including the chronological overview of my work. He was, in all practical purposes, the editor and Diana wanted him to be credited as such. However, he chose to label himself as the Designer, and Diana relegated herself to Consulting Editor.

It may not be an Eisner, but The Art of UY did win an Ursa Major Award at Anthrocon.

Thanks!

I checked Bud Plant's site today and didn't see one, which is why I posted. I got sketchbook last year from bud and when I got their newsletter today it said they had new sketchbooks, but saw none, from Stan...so if someone could let me know when they're available that would be awesome....

Thanks guys,

Yeah!
I think it should have won, too!
The layout is great, the fun use of the translucent paper as chapter headers, the cover with the lovely spot varnishing work.... The quality of the art inside was definitely enhanced by the design of the book.
