Albedo #2 (XF/NM Condition) up on ebay

Post by Steve Hubbell »

USAGI YOJIMBO Albedo No. 2 (XF/NM Condition)
Ends Apr-12-05 06:06:11 PDT
1st Print (1984). Albedo, Vol. 1 No. 2 (Thoughts & Images). 1st Appearance of Usagi Yojimbo, by Stan Sakai. I originally obtained this copy in Tacoma, WA, back in 1986. This is the last of the three copies that I have in my private collection.

The book is in borderline NM condition... probably falling somewhere between a 8.0 and a 9.0 on the modern grading scale. There is a tiny diagonal crease (very faint... about 1/4" in length) in the upper left corner of the front cover. There is also a tiny crease along the top of the back cover (about 1/4" in length). There appear to be about 7 creases on the spine. The inside pages all appear to be nice and snowy white. The corners appear to be nice and sharp... overall, a tight, flat book.

STAN SAKAI Albedo No. 1 (F/VF Condition)
Ends Apr-12-05 06:05:05 PDT
Revised 1st Print (SEPT 1984). Albedo, Vol. 1 No. 1 (Thoughts & Images). 1st Appearance of Nilson Groundthumper, by Stan Sakai. This is an incredibly rare and difficult book to locate. The original print run for this issue was 1,500. I originally obtained this copy in Canada (BC), about two years ago.

I would estimate the book is in Fine+ / VF condition. The major flaw is a 3" (approx) diagonal crease on the front cover (lower right corner). The inside pages all appear nice and snowy white. There are only a few tiny stress marks on the spine. The corners appear to be nice and sharp... overall, a tight, flat book (with the exception of the light cover crease).

USAGI YOJIMBO Albedo No. 3 (NM Condition)
Ends Apr-12-05 06:06:57 PDT
1st Print (APR 1985). Albedo, Vol. 1 No. 3 (Thoughts & Images). 2nd Appearance of Usagi Yojimbo, by Stan Sakai. I originally obtained this copy in Seattle, WA, back in 1989. The book has been autographed (inside first page) by Steven Gallacci, the publisher and Artist of Erma Felna, EDF (which was the lead story in this book).

The book is in NM condition. The inside pages all appear nice and snowy white. There are only a few tiny stress marks on the spine. The corners appear to be nice and sharp... overall, a tight, flat book.

USAGI YOJIMBO Albedo No. 4 (NM Condition)
Ends Apr-12-05 06:07:40 PDT
1st Print (July 1985). Albedo, Vol. 1 No. 4 (Thoughts & Images). 3rd Appearance of Usagi Yojimbo, by Stan Sakai. I originally obtained this copy in Tacoma, WA, back in 1986.

The book is in NM condition. The inside pages all appear nice and snowy white. There are only a few tiny stress marks on the spine. On the back cover, at the spine, near the lower staple, there appears to be two small creases (one slightly above and one slightly below). The corners appear to be nice and sharp... overall, a tight, flat book.

So-- how's the bidding stand so far?

I didn't win the auction..... Oh well... I waited until about 10 minutes before the auction closed, and noticed a small bidding war in the last 5 minutes. It was at $11 and shot up to $31 (a bargain, I know) in 5 minutes. After placing my bids, I saw the $31 and put a $35 bid in, but time ran out before it executed....RATS!

I also noticed a bidding war for the Albedo NR 2. It finally went for US $364.23....not bad! We've seen this issue go for over $1000.

Nobody has bid on Albedo 3 or 4... guess these are not in demand?

I think it was in Phoenix where Verra was referred to as Devera's Grandmother, or maybe it was Devera as Verra's Granddaughter.
I'll have to dig around and see if I can find the spot in the book.
(Todd, here's another chance for you... :D )

This guy seems to have an un-ending supply of Albedo issues...

I dislike when people describe their books like, <i>"I would estimate the book is in <b>NM condition</b>. The inside pages all appear nice and snowy white. <b>There are only a few tiny stress marks on the spine. </b> The corners appear to be nice and sharp... overall, a tight, flat book." </i>

How is a book NM when there are a few tiny stress marks on the spine?

Still with only 500 book print run, it still is very rare. And to have a complete run will feel nice I sure.

Good luck Todd, if anyone deservers that book, it's you. :D

Peace,

maka
