Who'd pay that much to prove that their copy is only a 9.0? Better to leave it ungraded and just call it "Near Mint".

Only because it is CGC-graded. Someone selling a non-CGC graded copy in the exact same condition would probably not start the bidding off so high. Perhaps you're paying the extra several hundred dollars for the security of knowing the book is in the condition stated? This really has to do with that one high-grade copy that went for over $2000...
