Slightly anticipated a big of intrigue, I've already sent him a message asking him just that :)

He probably bought it from me at a San Diego Con. If you look at the bottom of the art, you can see that it had even been personalized.

I knew Kliban, and knew that he had some dispute with Disney. Hence the "no Mickey" banner. But I don't remember what the dispute was. "Hap" as his friends called him was a really nice guy, if a bit gruff. He also drew one of my favorite cartoons: A very well dressed guy, with a babe on each arm walking down the street with a cop in front of him shoving people out of the way, and yelling, "Move aside! Cartoonist coming through!" How much like real life.

That is so cool.

I associate Kliban with Crazy Shirts, the adobt a cat shirts in Hawaii and my mother (who loves Kliban cats).

I would love to own that piece of art. Mmmmmm, what to bid?

Peace,

I got a reply back from him; apparently he's selling it for a friend, so he doesn't actually own it then.
