UY Book 21 hardcover for $8.35!

Post by Treadwell »

I was searching around various discount book sites, filling in my trades collection, when I found this:

http://www.alibris.com/booksearch.detai ... rt=&page=1

The "Binding" field says paperback, but in the description it says hardcover! I needed Vol 21 either way, so I ordered it.

And, sure enough, they sent the hardcover! Brand new!

$8.35, folks! There are more. Go get 'em!

(They ship in a padded envelope, so there are a couple minor dings. I didn't mind.)

Thanks for the tip! That's a pretty good deal for a hardcover UY volume.

One slight caveat I would add is that this store's shipping is a little bit pricey. However, if you place your order today, you can offset that by two dollars by enterting the promotional code "SNOWMAN2" when you check out (I think that offer expires after today though).

An excellent find, thank you! I didn't think the shipping was too expensive either. 3.99 for normal shipping, 6.99 for expedited shipping, and with the "snowman2" suggestion, it works out to 4.99 for expedited. Its kind of like you win either way, because if it isn't hardcover, well then you paid a good price anyway and didn't have to drive to pick it up, wasting gas. If it DOES arrive as hardcover, well, thats the steal of the century.

The lowest shipping option I got when I was ordering was expedited shipping for about $8. Is it because I ordered a second book along with the hardcover UY v. 21?

WOW!

Thanks for the information. I just ordered the Hardcover. $12.00 total so there might be some inconsistency in the shipping prices.

This will be a great start to a hardcover collection I am trying to begin.

Thanks!!!

I just got my copy of Mother of Mountains in the mail today, and it is indeed a hardcover. Woohoo! Thanks again for the tip!

I got mine the day before X-mas, and it was indeed hardcover. I bookmarked the place and will go there every time a new book comes out, just in case they keep doing this. Everyone who can should order them while they still can, and thanks to Treadwell for the original tip!

Hey Guys,

I decided to buy one of these books as a gift and was disappointed when it arrived. It is not the Limited Edition HC that Dark Horse sells. This is a BeeWee Bound book you would find in a library.

(checks copy)

Wow, you're right. I hadn't noticed that. Good catch.

Still, it's a good price even for paperback so I'm okay on my end. I hope no one else is too let down....

I had no idea that any of the UY books had library bindings. Is this from the publisher's end, or the retailer's? I had spoken to DH about possibly printing an inexpensive hard cover for libraries.

Amazon has listed some hardbound editions of Usagi Yojimbo from somebody called Sagebrush which I thought might be library editions.

I also thought Sagebrush was a library edition.

Oi,oi,oi could it be that some unfortunate clerk has mistaken the BWI issues with the "Real" HC ? That some who ordered got a BWI and some had their order boosted with a HC? :P
I can almost hear a head rolling down the streets....
