I have no idea, but I can tell you if I owned original art from Stan I would NEVER sell it. I'd have it framed and on display in my home.
That first drawing of Space Usagi, that is my computers wallpaper at work. I love that drawing.

Yeah I was gonna ask about the second auction, was it a poster or print released? This is the same online auction place that had the 1986 coloured print I bought last year for oodles of cash...

Many of the Space Usagi pieces disappeared from the Mirage offices. I can't go so far as to say they were stolen.
Many of them were not entirely done by me. The second piece I know is not my coloring. There were also some pieces that were drawn by others completely.

Understood Sensei... though by that, you are saying you did at least draw the artwork on the second piece (if not colour it)? I was considering bidding on it pending your advisement. Also, does this mean it's a one off piece as well just like any commission?

At that time--somewhere in the early 1990's--Space Usagi was being developed for a TV series. Mirage Studios in association with Turner Entertainment were my agents. We developed a bible, stories, new characters (such as Ursus the bear), and created hundreds of pieces of art. I did most of the drawings, Mirage artists did others, almost all were colored by their in-house staff, certainly the airbrushed pieces.

Thank you Sensei for the information... I was thinking I didn't recognise the character on the left. Given it's related to something that was never technically released or realised increases the interest I have in it... so I may well pop a bid on it and see if I win. If so, I'll do a proper large scan of it for people, and who knows, maybe bring it along to San Diego.
I've had a look through some of the other items they'll be selling at the same time and boy... wow... an Action Comics #1, a Detective Comics #27, a Todd McFarlane original page, a Jack Kirby original page... tasty stuff.
