Digital Art Prints, 50 of them!

Time to bring in the sweeping hammer of copyright?

Yeah, that doesn't look like it was licensed properly but you got to admit it looks damn cool in that living room pic.

Thanks for alerting me to this, Mayhem. I've already passed it along to the Dark Horse legal team.

It does look cool, though.

Well, maybe if they had asked nicely before offering their product on ebay...
Anyway, the description makes it seem like they (or their artists, whoever they are) did the painting, not our dear Sensei.....
To me it seems like they just scanned the cover of UY # 95, elliminated Sensei's signature and used some Photoshop effects; simply done, you don't have to be much of an artist to do that.

So, the picture may look cool in a living room, but only because it's a cool picture in the first place; what they did is in no way cool, it's just a rip off.

Btw, 50 times 45 US $ equals 2,250 US $, which would be going into they purses only; and what would keep them from simply printing another 50?!

Let them be tarred and feathered, their company crushed...(I'm quite angry about that, you know! )

"Our company founded 2 years ago, and today we enjoy a great succeed in selling our products overseas."

Oh I agree that what the company is doing is not cool. I just meant that living room picture looked cool. I have a Usagi print framed over my living room couch as well.

Out of curiosity, I sent the seller a message asking about the status of the artwork, just to see what their reply would be......
Dear chenf80,

I would really like to buy one of these limited edition prints, but before commiting myself to the purchase, can you tell me if it is a licensed production officially authorized by Stan Sakai, the creator and copyright owner of the Usagi Yojimbo character?

Thank you....

Dear usagigaijin,

Hi, thanks for the question, actully this is not a limited adition print, as far as the copy rights go we do not break any violation since all of our paintings we sell in our eBay store are drawn from scratch by our artist in china.

Hope this helps and if you got any more questions feel free to ask, thanks.

Drawn from scratch by placing a blank piece of paper on top of Stan's original drawing and copying it?

Most likely as a result of action from Dark Horse's crack legal team.

Thank you for alerting me to this.
