Well, my first choice (if I were am American, that is) would be going to a convention Stan Sakai is going to attend; there you've got the chance to find out if he really is one of the nicest persons in comics...

Oh, "reasonable price", I see....so, the ebay sharks are obviously ruled out.

Second best would be asking someone who is going to attend an afore mentioned convention to pick up a sketchbook for you. (Maybe even someone here in this forum can help you out.)

And for future sketchbooks (2010 and up) it's best to check out this forum just before and around SDCC, since Sensei and various Dojo members organize some kind of sketchbook distribution annually about that time.

I believe the window has closed for ordering them from Stan by mail this year. Since filling orders and mailing is time consuming, he only does it for a few weeks a year.

His supply of each sketchbook tends to last years, though, so you should be able to get this year's from him at a later date. Or at a personal appearance.

I pm'ed Stan to see if he had any left and he did.
He doesn't acept paypal and knows it's quite hard for internationals to get $$$ so he offered to trade for something of the same value

Is it possible to get older sketchbooks from Sensei?

@Ninjaman: It is, but he's run out of Sketchbook #1 two years ago IIRC; Sketchbook #2 should be running low by now, too.

The main concern might be how to actually get it, since Sensei does not send individual orders by mail (he's a bit busy, you know  ).

One way (the best IMO) is to pick things up when meeting him at a comic convention; make sure to PM him first so that he knows what to bring (which, by chance, is the heading of pre-convention threads, where Dojo members can tell Sensei specifically what they want to pick up).

Another method is asking someone here in the Dojo who will attend a convention to pick up items for you. Works pretty good for me, since I can't cross the Atlantic just for a few comic books.. .
