Good find; and actually a good price for that book, too.

It`s almost a pity I don`t need it anymore...

Every copy I've found of the S&N HC of Book 2 is a 2nd printing, including this one! Does anyone out there know why this is? Were there two printings of the S&N HC of Book 2 or did all the signed copies come from the second printing? :?

Any help would be appreciated!

For books 1 - 3, the hardcover editions were all published a few years after the trade paperback editions and, if I remember correctly, were published after Book 4 was released. The book 1 hardcover could be considered the fifth printing since the trade paperback had already been reprinted four times by the time the hardcover was released.

Book 4 was the first s/n limited edition hardcover to be released at (approximately) the same time as the trade paperback edition.

I second Steve, and to make it absolutely clear: there has only ever been one print run of every limited HC version of the series! After all, that's what "limited" means....
Even the HC of "The Art of Usagi Yojimbo" has not seen a second print run (yet), though it wasn't called limited.

Ehm,

it seems like you dig up these books on a regular basis; I should have known you three years earlier :D  .

Thanks for the replies guys! What got me confused is that the limited hardcover of volume 1 shows all of the softcover printing dates on the copyright page and then gives that book as the First Hardcover Printing. However, the limited of volume 2 is described on the copyright page as the Second Hardcover Printing.

I think that for some reason Fantagraphics may have released an unsigned 'normal' hardcover edition of volume 2 before the signed, limited one. Still, like you say there must have been only one printing of each signed book so I suppose it doesn't matter!

And sorry if I'm giving the impression that I'm digging up loads of copies, lol! We're talking about three or four copies over about 10 years!

There is no Book 2 HC that says "first printing".

UY Book 4 was the first HC, and it was printed at the same time that the trades were. Fantagraphics went back and released hardcovers of Books 1-3 as the respective trades were reprinted. The inside pages of the hardcovers of those books are identical to the second printings of the trades, including the "second printing" designation in the indicia.

Well, that clears that one up - I'm not going to dispute the sensei himself!
